Notes for a Shell (translation of Francis Ponge's poem "Notes pour un coquillage") is a site-specific collective exhibition, conceived to take place in a fisherman's hut (in the cabin and on its terrasse) on the beach. Hence a dialogue and confrontation in real time with the coastal landscape and the sedimentary architecture of the fishermen’s huts.
The project, with varying proposition, was held at the same location the last weekend of August in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
2017
The first edition was curated by Tiago de Abreu Pinto and Sergio Verastegui, with works by Ana Santos, Anita Molinero, Camila Farina, John Divola, Mimosa Echard, Matheus Rocha Pitta, Nona Inescu, Olve Sande, Sean Edwards, Nicolas Robbio, Thomas Couderc.
Catering was provided by Alcidia Vulbeau.
2018
The second edition was curated by Jordi Antas and Sergio Verastegui with works by David Horvitz, Olivier Millagou, Alina Chaiderov, Josep Maynou, Camila Oliveira Fairclough, Pepo Salazar, Irene de Andrés, Alexandra Zuckerman, Julien Carreyn, Nora Turato and performances by Aliette Alama, Camille Aléna, Mehdi Besnainou and Maxime Rossi, programmed by Margaux Bonopera.
2019
The third edition presented a multisensory site-specific installation by Pierre-Laurent Cassière with microphones immersed in the sea, connected to hammocks that amplified the underwater sounds and transformed them into vibrations as they came into contact with the visitor's body.
In a more performative aspect, LISTEN TO THE SEA, invited visitors to spend an afternoon and evening on the beach, between low tide and high tide. During these few hours, the public could let themselves be swept away by the different waves and ripples of the 5th edition of the MORE fanzine and by the performances of Josep Maynou and OMMA and Anna Piroska Tóth.
