« Toomanyrecordss. Disegni a 33 giri »
curated by More Projects and Irina Zucca Alessandrelli
For the fifth edition of Milano Drawing Week, curator Irina Zucca Alessandrelli (Collezione Ramo) has invited More Projects to present TOOMANYRECORDSS, a project that asks each participating artist to intervene on a 12-inch vinyl record.
The records assigned to each artist are carefully selected in vintage markets by Davide Bertocchi and Sergio Verastegui, who choose them according to the style and practice of each participant. The artists are then free to reinterpret these objects, transforming them into unique works.
The fifty-five works presented bring together newly commissioned pieces created specifically for Milano Drawing Week 2025 and others drawn from the existing Toomanyrecordss archive. The 33 RPM record becomes a catalyst for “works on paper,” a medium expanded and redefined for the occasion.
This constellation of works is counterpointed by a performance from American musician and artist Reeve Schumacher, who performs a score he has drawn directly onto vinyl. Using a precision cutter, Schumacher engraves mathematically arranged patterns into the record, generating a sound that is, quite literally, handmade. With his project Sonic Braille—situated between drawing and musical experimentation—Schumacher creates a sonic experience that is both meditative and tumultuous, transcending genre boundaries and perhaps best described as analog techno.
